Born in Cambridgeshire, England.

Captain Paul.T. Kirby served as Captain of Co.K 19th Ohio Vol. Inf. during the Civil War of 1861-65. He was wounded in action twice during the War, but he stayed on to the very end. A lesser man would have resigned. While he was in the Military hospitals he began to study to be a doctor while in the service of his country, and after the war he became a doctor and moved out to Nevada in 1870.

He was one of the Doctors in Virginia City, and lived there with his wife, Lucy. They had two children. Paul Jr. was born Jan. 20th 1882, and Died of an infant fever on Aug. 23 1882, at the age of 8 Months 3 days. One daughter, Lucy, born March 3rd, 1877.

Paul's Health began to fail him because of his old war wounds, and on Dec. 14th 1888, after returning from a late night child birth, he took suddenly ill. He died of a heart attack on Dec. 15th 1888 at age 59.

He was Buried with Full Military Honors by the Local Grand Army of The Republic who followed the Last orders of the Captain "To give Me A Simple Soldiers Burial & Marker," and that is what he has today, a Simple Soldiers Marker, next to the fancy one his wife, Lucy, bought him.

Lucy and her daughter later moved to Lake Tahoe where they may be buried.
