Able Bodied Seaman John J. Silva served in the U.S.Navy during the Korean war of 1950-53.

Born in Gilpin, Nevada, in 1937, he died in Virginia City in 1976 at age 39 and was laid to rest in the Catholic Section of the Virginia City Cemetery.
